While Dr. Patel listed specific areas of specialization, she is comfortable addressing most developmental and evaluation questions for toddlers, children, and adolescents. Her approach is neurodiversity-affirming, ensuring that each child's unique strengths and needs are respected and supported.

Dr. Patel has both personal and professional experience in working with the complex dynamics surrounding giftedness and twice exceptionality (2E). Dr. Patel understands the unique strengths and challenges of gifted and 2E children and is dedicated to providing individualized, neurodiversity-affirming support that nurtures their talents and addresses their needs.
AUTISM
Dr. Patel has nearly 20 years of experience in diagnosing autism across all ages, including toddlers, children, adolescents, and adults. She is research-trained in the ADI-R, trained in the ADOS-2, and has expertise in the MIGDAS-2. Dr. Patel is well-versed in the unique profiles of autism in females, gender-diverse individuals, and adults. She is dedicated to providing neurodiversity-affirming support that celebrates each individual's strengths and addresses their unique needs, ensuring compassionate and personalized care for all.
Social/Emotional Well-being and Complex Mental Health​
Dr. Patel spent nearly a decade as the sole psychologist in rural Illinois, where she played a crucial role in creating and working within an interdisciplinary team. She received extensive training to support her community, including participation in ECHO Autism through the Thompson Center in Columbia, specialized training in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders through the University of Washington, and comprehensive training in complex mental health. Dr. Patel collaborated closely with speech/language pathologists and occupational therapists, gaining a deep understanding of the overlapping domains of development. Her experience enables her to provide holistic, individualized care for individuals with developmental delays, mental health challenges, and social/emotional skills needs, including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and AD/HD, always respecting and celebrating each person's unique profile.​
SPECIAL EDUCATION, CHILD WELFARE, ADOPTION, TRAUMA
​In addition to having a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology with nearly 20 years experience, Dr. Patel also has a Masters of Jurisprudence in Child Law. This allowed for specializations in the area where the law and psychology intersect, such as special education, child welfare, trauma, and adoption.

PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL
EVALUATIONS ​
As part of a comprehensive evaluation, Dr. Patel has been providing psychoeducational evaluations for nearly 20 years. This includes assessing for learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. She is also skilled in identifying learning challenges in gifted individuals and those who have received extensive interventions. Additionally, her Master's of Jurisprudence in Child Law provides her with a strong background in special education law, ensuring that her evaluations are thorough and well-rounded.

This also includes understanding the documentation needed for high stakes testing or accommodations for college and beyond.
INFANT/TODDLER EVALUATIONS ​
As part of her work in an interdisciplinary clinic, Dr. Patel helped run a specialized 0-3 clinic for nearly a decade. Dr. Patel's extensive experience and expertise ensure thorough, compassionate evaluations that support the developmental needs of infants and toddlers.
